TasP, yes, Blue Mars has disappointed people and people get disillusioned at it.

this is me in Cloud Party.

i will sure keep an eye on how it goes.

I´ve been playing about in Cloud Party for the past couple of weeks. I´m really in love with the shader system. It isn´t as robust as the one in Blue Mars, but it has the essentials like normal and specular maps.

Hi everybody :-)

Very interesting comments. Thank you.

I found this nice site (I especially selected this page) : http://virtualfashionfeed.com/2009/12/

It is the kind of avatars and garments I would like to meet in the virtual worlds.

I´ve very few knowledge about 3D Virtual Worlds.

However, what I see in the movies promoting them, is not very attractive.

Yea, a VW is certainly what you make it. If you find the right groups. they can be pretty fun. If you ever check out Second Life, look me up. ^^

Hi Ashasekayi :-)

Thank you for your respond to my comment.

To be sincere, there is little chance that I could visit Second Life or any other VW in the future.

However I would have enjoyed to discover your creations inside Second Life,

because I consider that you´re a very kind MD´s member and a very gifted 3D designer.

A few years ago, I visited IMVU during some days.

I have not been very pleased with that experience.

I remember having visited a building created by a VIP member.

That member  was there in a nice room with other visitors.

I wanted to approach that group, but I was blamed (and later ejected) because I was walking on ...

a "prohibited area" inside that room.

I met sometimes aggressive avatars who were using special powers to intimidate me.

:-)

i feel old fashioned here, i have never visited one of these virtual worlds, but i don´t spend a lot of time on internet

Nuh. I actually feel old-fashioned talking about virtual worlds, given the declining state they have been in recent years. The biggest weakness of virtual worlds is their own users really (which is oddly their biggest strength too).

Yes, VWs are really just microcosms of the world. You´ll meet some really amazing and creative people that really inspire you, but you can also come across power-tripping douchebags. So yea, it takes a little time to find a compatible group of people that share your interests.

For me though, there is a special feeling that you get when you see someone walking around wearing your 3D creation. Even better, I love to see someone use it in a way that I hadn´t even thought about. It´s the ability to see your work in a living, interactive 3D space that I enjoy the most.

this is very true, Asha. that is why i had tried to make good garments for use in 3D worlds. but i have tried many worlds only Blue Mars has the potential of showing all the details of the creations made in MD2. unfortunately Blue Mars is now an empty world.

Yes, it is very sad what happened to Mars. It had so much potential for creators.

i guess for as long as blue mars exists, i still continue to try to make garments. at least there are 2 more people doing the same :D

now i had a garment made in MD2 that do not have broad sleeves

this is a small dress popular in the Ming Dynasty around 400 to 500 years ago.

i exported to obj format and imported to Maya with the same parameters from the last attempt.

i still have not figured out how to reduce the triangles.

i exported to dae anyway and imported to blue mars cloth editor.

but apart from triangle numbers the result seems to be acceptable.

even sitting is not too bad

so next step: reduce the number of triangles!
