David's Suit
Travis Davids, a famous content creator, introduces how he came up with making countless outfits with Marvelous Designer!

Interview with Travis Davids | David's Suit | 3D Generalist
1. Artist Introduction
Hello, my name is Travis Davids, I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a freelance digital artist and content creator.
I primarily focus on creating 3D related content in the form of tutorials or resources for digital artists.
My content is available on multiple websites like Youtube, Gumroad and Artstation.
I’m a 3D generalist who loves experimenting with multiple workflows.
I’ve been doing 3D full time since 2015 but my journey started in 2007 when i created mod items for a video game called The Sims.
It sparked my interest to explore an expanding universe of endless possibilities.
3D gave me a platform to bring my ideas and emotions to life.
It’s something I'm very passionate about and I thoroughly enjoy the endless journey of self improvement. Love what you do and do what you love!
2. What is Marvelous Designer's strong point?
About 4 years ago I was looking for a really good solution for creating clothing.
Time constraints and having to manually sculpt clothing just wasn’t a viable option for me.
My only option at the time was sculpting clothing from scratch in ZBrush.
Sculpting every single fold and crease was driving me insane. I have so much respect for artists that can sculpt clothing.
I searched online and found a solution to my problem in the form of cloth simulation and that program was Marvelous Designer.
It not only allowed me to work faster but the results it generated blew my mind the first time I used it.
The ability to draft a pattern in a 3D program and see it drape on a digital human to generate realistic looking clothing with folds and creases was revolutionary!
At the time, finding learning material online was extremely rare so I had to resort to watching YouTube videos of real fashion designers sewing clothing in order to understand how garments are created.
I still follow this same approach to this day to understand how to draft 2D patterns and sew garments, it has helped me so much.
I feel like the amount of learning material provided for Marvelous Designer today is growing steadily and I made it my duty a couple years ago to record tutorials for Marvelous Designer and put them on YouTube to show everyone how Marvelous Designer could save them so much time to create garments.
I still upload Marvelous Designer tutorials on my channel and I have so much content in development.
Marvelous Designer has become my go to solution for doing anything cloth related. I’ve used it to create a countless number of outfits.
It’s perfect for fashion design but I’ve also used it for environmental props like curtains, bedsheets and pillows.
Marvelous Designers strong point is speed, customization of garments, accuracy of folds/creases and the ability to iterate and change aspects of a garment with ease, it’s a completely non destructive process and it has become the industry standard.
3. Artworks created with Marvelous Designer
David’s Suit

I also reimagined an iconic statue, Michael Angelo’s David and his entire outfit was created with Marvelous Designer.
Cyberpunk Bomber Jacket

I created this Cyberpunk Bomber Jacket as an entire course showing you my entire 3D Fashion Design workflow.
You’ll get to see exactly how I build garments like this with Marvelous Designer, ZBrush and Substance Painter on my channel.
I showcase so many useful tools in Marvelous Designer to create the garment.
Cyberpunk Leather Jacket

This was another Cyberpunk inspired outfit that I created.
I used Marvelous Designer to generate a really good base for me to further detail in ZBrush.
I added detailing to the garment using tileable patterns that I created to generate variations of the design.
Rolled Up Fabric

Simulating fabric that has been rolled up was very easy to create with Marvelous Designer,
and it helped me achieve the final look for this artwork titled “You Give Me That Feeling”.
